Welcome to California Virtual Academy. I am excited to partner with learning coaches to provide an innovative and challenging education to promote the mastery of the California State Standards. I will work to strengthen family values, promote character and provide skill mastery through the use of technology and the k12 curriculum.

I will use this for assessing work and pulling required work sample. Username is the Student's ID number. Pasword is student's first name (all lower-case) and the last 3 numbers of their Student ID number. Outings: See Bear Tracks newsletter for current events and outing information https://www.smore.com/p1jqk CamScanner: There’s an app called CamScanner that turns your phone into a scanner. It’s free and it can save a batch of pictures and convert it to one, small-sized pdf. It makes it easier to send work samples if you are not able to scan documents. Missing or Damaged Materials: If you have missing or damaged materials, you can quickly request a replacement using the K12 Webform! You can also request a microphone/headset using this form. http://webform.k12.com/
Keyboarding and Touch Typing: Teaching our students to type is a great life skill. Touch typing is a strategy that can be helpful for many reasons including: school work, test taking, communication, and an overall time saver. Below are some resources to assist students in becoming more proficient at typing. Check them out. Free Typing program: Typing Club https://www.typingclub.com/ Here is a list of 12 programs and free keyboarding games to help teach students to type: http://www.educatorstechnology.com/2014/06/keyboarding-games-for-kids.html
K12 Feedback: If you see something in the Online school that looks wrong or you have a suggestion for K12 you can click on the speech bubble in the right hand column of any lesson. K12 will review it and give you feedback.
OLS Progress: I monitor progress in the Online school. A gray star means your student did not master (less than 80%) the assessment at the end of the lesson. If your student uses all their attempts for the lesson assessment I will add more attempts. Students are expected to log into the OLS daily and complete their daily plan. 3rd graders should be working an average of 4-6 hours daily.
Absences: If you are not logging into the OLS on a school day for any reason you will need to fill out an off-line work log. The attendance compliancy team will contact you. You will complete an off line work log summary by clicking on this link: https://tinyurl.com/missingattendancesurvey This survey gives you the opportunity to let us know what work was completed, or that your student was unable to complete work on this date. To complete the survey, you will need your student’s ID number, teacher’s name(Kerry Armendariz), and the assignments your student worked on throughout the day. For more information on the Offline Work Log and how to complete it, please view this brief walk-through video:Offline Work Log Video
Class Connect Sessions: Your student’s class connect sessions will show at the top of their daily plan on the OLS.
Music: Make sure you are logging in through your student’s account. The program is a product from a third party vendor and is integrated into the K12 system.
World Language: You will need to follow the daily plan of 3 lesson per week to finish by the end of the year. If you do not finish your student will re-take the World Language Course next year or be enrolled in a Music course.
Optional Lessons: When you see Optional lessons in the OLS they are usually designed to re-teach a concept. At this point, you should be completing all optional lessons. If you look over the lesson and decide to skip it, please do the next lesson in that subject. Mark it as skipped and you can always go back and complete it at a later date. If you skip all the optional lessons you will finish the course early and we will need to develop extra lessons for support.
Daily Plan: Students are required to complete the following lessons each week: 5 Math, 5 Language Arts, 3 History, 2 Science and 1 Art Lesson.
